Job Responsibilities: Contributes to Lands and Minerals Sector (LMS) Science Projects by planning and conducting scientific and technical support activities for projects on oil and gas resource assessment studies of sedimentary basins in Canada. Advises on methods and techniques for geophysical and geographic datasets and produces results in the form of maps, value-added geophysical and geological datasets and their derivatives. Provides scientific advice and information on geographic information systems and seismic data management to internal scientific staff and liaises with public and private partners / stakeholders. Contributes to Lands and Minerals Sector (LMS) science projects and programs by providing robust and scientific-based evaluations of oil and gas resources in sedimentary basins in Canada. Provides leadership for science programs and projects focused on geophysical and regional geological data analyses for assessment of sedimentary basin geology, hydrocarbon energy resources and associated issues. Responsible for providing analyses of geophysical data and oil and gas resource assessments at the national level and for providing information to multiple stakeholders such as the responsible Provinces and Territories that do not otherwise have access to un-biased and credible expertise. Contributes to Lands and Mineral Sector (LMS) Science Projects by planning and conducting activities in projects delivering robust and science-based predictions on oil and gas resource of various sedimentary basins in Canada. Compiles, synthesizes and adapts raw and published geoscientific data for regional petroleum resource analyses. Provides scientific advice and information on seismic data interpretation to internal scientific staff and liaises with public and private partners / stakeholders. Collaborates on methods and techniques for geophysical and geographic datasets and produces results in the form of maps, value-added geophysical and geological datasets and their derivatives. Provides scientific advice and information on geographic information systems and seismic data management to internal scientific staff and liaises with public and private partners / stakeholders. Job Requirements: Knowledge of conventional and unconventional petroleum geology. Knowledge of techniques and methodologies in the identification, characterization and assessment/appraisal of sedimentary basin oil, gas and mineral resources. Experience developing seismic project databases and managing application-independent seismic archival records. Experience planning, managing and conducting independent research in sedimentary basin geoscience . Experience in sedimentary basin analysis. Experience working on a team of researchers and support staff. Experience in seismic project setup using interpretation and mapping software (e.g. IHS Kingdom Suite, GeoFrame, seismic registration tools, ESRI ArcMap or Global Mapper). Experience providing expertise on geophysical methods, techniques or outputs. Experience in sedimentary basin or petroleum system modelling.
