Job Description:

The AWS Region Services Lighthouse Team is looking for a Data Engineer to lead the research and thought leadership to drive our data and insight strategy for Amazon Region Services. You will streamline data science workflows needed for predictive models that involve learning from large amounts of data. You will closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to design data models and assist in data related technical issues.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work with Big data tools – PySpark, EMR, Airflow, Glue etc.
• Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
• Design efficient data storage and warehousing solutions for analytics
• Participate in the data acquisition process
• Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to design data models and assist in data related technical issues
• Build ETL pipelines to enable automation of reports and dashboards
• Experience with Agile development is a plus but not necessary

Job Requirements:

• 4+ years of industry experience in software development, data engineering, business intelligence, data science, or related field with a track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related technical discipline
• Experience in SQL
• Experience working with AWS big data technologies (EMR, Redshift, S3)
• Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, Business/Financial Analyst or Systems Analyst in a company with large, complex data sources.
• Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
• Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
• Experience using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Hbase, Spark, EMR, etc.)
• Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
