Amazon Employment – Sr. Software Development Engineer

Website Amazon

Job Description:

As a Sr. Software Developer you will work with technical leaders to define technical direction, hire and develop the skills of the teams you lead, and own the delivery of the products and programs they’re tasked with. You are equally comfortable leading small, focused project teams as well as making major direct contributions to the project. You deliver features, both directly and through the teams you lead, with minimal direct oversight. You are also adept at recruiting and developing bar-raising talent. The baseline individual for this role will be entirely comfortable with the Linux operating system and understand how to develop in languages such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, Ruby, and Python in a Linux environment. Experience with Linux package management, understanding of and experience in contributing to open source projects, knowledge of the use, design, and development of Linux operating system internals, including the kernel and hypervisor are a plus.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work/Life Balance: Our team also puts a high value on work-life balance. Striking a healthy balance between your personal and professional life is crucial to your happiness and success here, which is why we aren’t focused on how many hours you spend at work or online. Instead, we’re happy to offer a flexible schedule so you can have a more productive and well-balanced life—both in and outside of work.
  • Inclusive Team Culture: Here at AWS, we embrace our differences. We are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences. Amazon’s culture of inclusion is reinforced within our 14 Leadership Principles, which remind team members to seek diverse perspectives, learn and be curious, and earn trust.
  • Mentorship & Career Growth: Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. Our team has a broad mix of experience levels and Amazon tenures, and we’re building an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our senior engineers truly enjoy mentoring more junior engineers and engineers from non-traditional backgrounds through one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. We care about your career growth. We try to assign projects and tasks based on what will help each team member develop into a better-rounded engineer and enable them to take on more complex tasks in the future.
  • If you like helping customers, working on large and distributed services, solving complex problems, and working with a talented and amazing group of people then we are the team for you. Our team creates the very core of the cloud, and is directly responsible for radically changing and improving the way that people use computers – come join us to have fun, and make history!
  • The baseline individual for this role will be entirely comfortable with the Linux operating system and understand how to develop in languages such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, Ruby, and Python in a Linux environment.
