Job Description:
Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) Engineering combines operational support and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant services and systems dedicated to U.S. Government customers. ADC Engineers ensures that AWS services – both our internally and externally-visible services – continually raise the bar on security, availability, and scalability. Additionally, ADC Engineers keep an ever-watchful eye on our systems’ capacity and performance. Much of our focus is to optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure and eliminating work through automation. You’ll have the opportunity to manage the complex operational challenges of scale, which are unique to AWS, while using your expertise to work with other teams and engineers to drive large-scale system decisions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability and overall health.
- Support services before they go live in Amazon Dedicated Clouds through activities such as system design reviews, capacity planning, and operational readiness launch reviews.
- Engage in & improve the whole lifecycle of services, from inception and design, through deployment, operation and refinement.
- Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms, automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
- Perform incident response, event management, and blameless Correction of Errors processes.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to read, understand and utilize existing scripts.
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above.
- Ability to debug service and system logs within the Linux shell.
- Experience scripting in one or more language (examples: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby) and ability to automate routine tasks.
- Interest in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
- Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with effective communication skills, a sense of ownership and drive.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or 2+ years of related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of administrative experience with Linux or cloud platform environments
