Job Description:
The aim of the role is to contribute to the strategic development of Sainsbury’s supply Chain & Logistics, by supporting the creation and revision of long-term strategies, including: network design, product flows, process continuous improvement, technology and people.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare, maintain and distribute all materials needed to effectively plan and communicate project progress to the Strategy Team and the Logistics Leadership Team as well as other senior internal stakeholders.
- Manage projects that move quickly from concept to business case that either highlight potential costs/benefits or fail fast
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and industry news.
- Develop a strong communication network with all project and programme stakeholders, ensuring key individuals are kept up to date and engaged on progress.
- Define, plan and deliver large, cross-functional change business cases using appropriate project/ change management tools and techniques.
- Conduct rigorous and complex data analysis to support your project ideas and goals, as well as identifying delivery costs and savings opportunities.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities within capital and revenue spends across Sainsbury’s Logistics network, including network design, product flow, technology and people
- Identify and articulate issues and risks faced by the project, proposing resolutions/mitigation and escalating where required.
Influence change in other business areas to maximise cross-functional benefits in cost, quality and/or service.
Job Requirements:
- Commercially astute with a sharp focus on operational costs, the colleague will actively identify deliverable opportunities for supply chain optimisation.
- Ability to simplify complex technical messages and translate into actionable information.
- Conducts rigorous analysis of potential solutions to ensure proposals are realistic, deliver defined benefits and can stand the test of time.
- Full understanding of the Logistics network strategy with 3+ years of functional Logistics experience, ideally within a UK-based retailer.
- A good communicator with the ability to influence at SM-level.
- Lean 6-sigma green belt preferred but not essential.
- A good presenter and facilitator with the ability to engage and lead matrix teams.
- Strong MS Office skills with particular emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detailed understanding of depot and transport operations processes and material flows.
- Simplifying complex problems and generating deliverable, costed solutions and recommendations for approval by the Logistics Leadership Team.
- Actively influences the priorities of the Logistics Strategy Team, ensuring the timely delivery of capacity and change projects.
- Excellent forward planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in the face of conflicting priorities and timescales
- Sound understanding of budgets and business case models.
- Proactive, self-motivated, organised and diligent with an excellent attention to detail.
- A high level of engagement with project stakeholders across the business as well as providing project leadership of matrix teams.
- Highly developed numerical and analytical skills.
