Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and tracking Domain Portfolio and project finances, including actual expenditure and future forecast against approved budget, highlighting any risks or opportunities.
  • Developing your expert knowledge on our Delivery Framework & becoming the SME within the Portfolio Domain.
  • Embracing a culture of continuous improvement to identify and develop improvements to our Delivery Framework.
  • Ensuring that management have all the MI, data and content to provide transparent visibility on delivery progress and risks/issues/assumptions/dependencies to governance forums.
  • Supporting management in maintaining the roadmap of prioritised and early-stage shaped initiatives, with supporting business cases, constructively challenging and proactively considering any impacts to the wider portfolio.
  • Preparing and co-ordinating the agenda and papers for the Domain Portfolio management boards, ensuring clear key messages and actions needed.
  • Managing and supporting a couple of PMO Analysts to ensure Delivery PMO services are provided efficiently and effectively.
  • Contributing to the creation and running of the Portfolio and project governance structure, ensuring the Delivery Framework is fully embedded and utilised throughout the Domain Portfolio projects.
  • Utilising your Change experience to constructively challenge Project Managers on the project status, prognosis and risk profile.
  • Maintaining and tracking the project plans against a known level of uncertainty via regular updates from Project Managers, constructively reviewing quality of input.
  • Collating and compiling project reports, utilising your Change experience to provide valuable insight to management.

Job Requirements:

  • Highly skilled user across MS PowerPoint, Excel and Project applications.
  • Excellent written communication with a proven track record in creating business and project reports, including for Executive consumption.
  • Excellent planning skills and able to manage competing priorities, working effectively under pressure.
  • The ability to pose questions to colleagues in a collaborative and constructive manner.
  • Significant experience in a PMO Lead role with a strong background in providing PMO services to complex Change programmes/portfolios within a financial services organisation.
  • Experienced at coaching and guiding less experienced colleagues.
  • Experience of creating and managing the programme/portfolio performance across multiple measures including delivery against plan, financial performance, risk profile and resource supply and demand.
  • Experience in both Waterfall frameworks and Agile methods.
  • Proven track record of working on own initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider team.
  • Professionally qualified in Project Management or PMO.
  • Resilience and ability to deal effectively with ambiguity.
