Job Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Analysis, the Officer, Strategy is responsible for supporting the strategic development of new insights into the business, economic, financial, and technological environments which the Canada Post Corporation competes through research, analysis, documentation, and reporting. The Officer aids the Strategy team in the development, maintenance, communication, and implementation of strategies to guide the direction of the Corporation to actualize its goals. Providing support to senior management and the executive to facilitate and discuss strategy, the Officer is critical to the advancement of the Corporations long-term direction, business issues, and decisions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitates a robust market and competitive intelligence portfolio. Reviews, assesses, and analyzes competitors, customers, pricing and investment strategies, strategic plans, business plans, corporate initiatives, and stakeholder issues to identify emerging issues, critical opportunities, threats, and cross-dependencies.
- Prepares and provides reports and documentation to functional peers and management to resolve conflicts or information gaps and ensure awareness and thorough understanding of the strategic context in which the Corporation operates. Continuously improves the process to provide relevant updates.
- Gathers, consolidates, and analyzes various forms of information from internal and external sources to support the development of insights into the business, economic, financial, and technological environments which the Canada Post Corporation competes. Participates in the interpretation and presentation of key findings in and ensures that information is kept up to date, and historical information is managed appropriately.
- Assists in the development, communication, and implementation of strategic plans and works with Corporate Communications to help deliver corporate-wide messaging pertaining to strategic direction.
- Coordinates the strategy development and strategic management processes for the Corporation by keeping abreast of internal and external sources of information pertaining to the Corporation’s interests. Ensures integration of the information gathered with the Corporation’s product and business planning processes.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of Canada Post Corporation and its Group of Companies strategies, financial position, internal and external stakeholders, risks, and the competitive market. Monitors ongoing and future developments in the areas of economy, politics, technology, transportation, and demographics, through internal and external information (readings, publications, Internet, etc.).
- Prepares written, oral, and graphic reports, presentations, and briefings for senior leadership. Supports the team in presentation of findings to senior leadership and translates feedback into options for recommendations for potential future implementation.
- Leads and participates in strategic fit assessments, special studies, risk assessments or other analyses to continually develop Corporate Strategy. At the request of the team, makes recommendations from the results of the analysis and identifies topics for further analysis.
Job Requirements:
- 1 to 3 years of relevant functional experience.
- Completed University degree, preferably in a related field, including Business Administration, Finance, Economics etc.
- Solid interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Excellent team building skills and experience operating in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
- Experience with in-depth financial and strategic modeling and analysis.
- Experience in a unionized environment an asset.
- Sound research, analytical, judgment and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving.
- Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs and other job relevant programs.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in strategic planning, strategic analysis, or data analysis
