Job Description:
Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities is a national charity dedicated to helping kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities. With an extensive, national network of more than 1,000 grantees and 289 local chapters, Jumpstart helps eligible families cover the costs of registration, transportation, and equipment, and provides funding to selected organizations for recreational infrastructure and programming
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure integrity of financial information and use of financial controls for the disbursement module:- Monthly reconciliation of financial system General Ledger with supporting information from systems
- Data upload of disbursement transactions
- Provide input to current internal controls and make recommendations to improve disbursement processes
- All aspects of processing of disbursements for the Charity, including but not limited to:- Provide timely and accurate processing of invoices for the Charity
- Ensure timely response to internal and external grant related issue inquiries e.g., from vendors, Regional Managers, Community Partners, Parents, etc.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting with respect to disbursement status for various meetings throughout the year. Maintaining monthly chapter reporting for Regional Managers, stats logs on cheques cut, returned/cancelled cheques, stale dated cheques, etc.
- Assist with quarterly reporting, forecasting, year-end audit, and other projects as required.
- Resolving all grant issues from systems perspective e.g., missing payments, systems exceptions, and discrepancies, etc.
- Prepare and maintain workflow documentation so that the Charity has an accurate reference document on the process and system.
- Processing weekly cheque runs
- Creation of a positive work environment and supports the Finance team in achieving strategic objectives is essential.
- Be able to analyze disbursement trends and provide variance analysis by Chapter, Provincially, Nationally, and by program type on a regular basis.
- Prepare reconciliation and reporting to government agencies.
- Liaise with Regional Managers and Operations staff to gain appropriate approvals
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance or similar related area
- CPA designation or currently working towards earning a designation, preferred
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience in an accounting, financial reporting, analysis, or similar role
- Knowledge of charitable industry standards and best practices in Financial Management.
- Experience with financial accounting systems required with a preference for experience with Financial Edge
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skills is required
- Strong written, analytical, organizational, planning and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and provide high level performance of tasks under pressure.
