Job Description:

Canadian Tire is looking for a results-driven and innovative communications manager to contribute to the evolution of retail in Canada. Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Brand Communications, this role is responsible for ensuring external communications are consistent with the strategic objectives of Canadian Tire.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper and consistent positioning of the company and its strategic priorities with internal and external constituencies
  • Measure the effectiveness of communications channels and recommend opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal clients, agency partners, vendors and suppliers to ensure delivery of quality, cost effective and timely services across the corporation
  • Develop talent, overseeing a team of high-performing communications professionals
  • Write, proofread, and edit for a wide variety of written and presentation materials
  • Lead contact for issues management pertaining to customer service and brand reputation
  • Manage a team of communications professionals to develop and execute marketing communication plans and programs that meet business and stakeholder requirements
  • Maintain strong media and content creator relationships with a focus on remaining current in the changing media landscape
  • Manage annual PR budgets
  • Research emerging trends, best practices, and opportunities in the field of communications with the goal of improving the execution of communications
  • Lead end-to-end communications initiatives for a variety of external audiences, ensuring key message delivery, audience engagement and positive brand affinity
  • Partner with marketing and brand teams across company to amplify marketing programs around key seasonal and product priorities

Job Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related degree/diploma
  • Proven experience in social and integrated marketing
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity
  • Excellent spoken and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, both internally and externally
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in brand communications, with strong media and influencer relations experience
  • Agency experience is a strong asset
