Job Responsibilities: Recognize & Develop leaders for succession planning. Lead a safe, efficient, cost effective work equipment maintenance program within their territory and be available for deficiencies when required. Responsible for assigned capital and expense budgets for region. Direct responsible managers on organizing and controlling the resources responsible for the maintenance of work equipment and vehicles in accordance with regulatory requirements and processes. Guide Work Equipment managers in daily planning and execution of all work equipment repair activities and safety activities for employees in work equipment group. Delivers specified financial results expected within each managers assigned expense and capital budgets for complete region; Ensure completion of equipment work orders and all maintenance records are kept accurate by direct reports; Lead daily work equipment calls to share safety and operational conditions throughout the property for continuous improvements; Implement work processes/changes that achieve continuous improvement; Ensures the application and execution of CP safety practices, monthly safety activities, policies and procedures by all direct reports; Schedule and coordinate equipment for level three repairs and assist in new/replacement equipment purchases and disposals for region; Coach direct reports to improve their effectiveness when dealing with issues (wage agreement, service, and labor relations); Manage the parts inventories levels and ensure they are set to correct target levels and utilize reduction budgets to reduce obsolete material; Maintains cross functional relationships and ensures clear cross functional working relationships with OEM, customers and regulatory agencies; Directs and monitors the performance of Work Equipment managers & supervisors to ensure the reliability of work equipment and vehicles is maintained to standard; Job Requirements: Journeymen certificate as a heavy duty mechanic is preferred; Grade 12 or equivalent; Ability to simultaneously manage priorities and ensure delivery of key performance metrics during emergency and non emergency operations; Capability to develop and manage a project plan/schedule; 5 years experience in a railway work equipment maintenance environment; Computer proficient in CP systems ie.
