Job Description:
This position is located in the District Department of Transportation (ODOT) and serves as Associate Director for Parking and Ground Transportation with responsibility for providing technically-authoritative leadership, direction, and guidance to teams for completion of large, specialized multi- year program of services and projects, as well as effective and efficient management and operation of the District of Columbia’s curbside management program, which includes the District’s parking and ground transportation systems. The position serves as the principal point of contact for DDOT’s parking and ground transportation program.
Job Responsibilities:
- Incumbent works closely with the Chief Operations Officer in the conceptual development, design, management, and provision of the DDOT curbside management, parking and ground transportation programs. Provides technically authoritative advice and guidance to top level management on complex, controversial, and/or sensitive city wide office functions. Examines office operations for cost efficiency, utilization of personnel and equipment and distribution of functions.
- Incumbent leads, manages, and directs a multi-discipline team responsible for meeting performance goals, objectives and program and project outcomes for parking and ground transportation policies and programs. Incumbent tactfully and effectively responds to and interacts with external groups, including but not limited to, unions, Advisory Neighborhood Councils, DC Councilmembers and staff, developers, Business Improvement Districts and other business associations, and District citizens. Interfaces with Federal, state and regional government agencies and makes presentations to ANC’s, Councilmembers, and other government agencies as required. Resolves citizen, employee and, elected officials’ concerns in a timely manner. Identifies and collaborates on operational and safety plans for special events and emergency preparedness for the District of Columbia.
Job Requirements:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Qualification & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree related to traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, or other related fields is required. An advanced degree in business administration or similar field preferred.
- Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position and has equipped the individual with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the incumbent must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
