Job Description:
Under the direction of a CCG Officer, this position carries out maintenance, operational and custodial services for the Watchkeeping Engineer of a Canadian Coast Guard ship, as well as duties in the marine environment as part of the Canadian Coast Guard’s federal mandate.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assisting in operating, maintaining and repairing ship machinery and equipment;
- Participating in damage control, firefighting, environmental response and other drills, exercises and operations.
- Participating in fueling, lube oil transfer and waste oil products handling, and the production, transfer, testing and treatment of potable water;
- Conducting rigging in support of engine room lifting activities;
Job Requirements:
- Must be willing and able to work shiftwork.
- Must be willing and able to travel by air, land, and by sea.
- Must be willing and able to wear a Respiratory Protection device and meet the standard of the CCG Respiratory Protection Program –RPP.
- For Canadian Citizens, Valid Canadian Passport or for Canadian Permanent Residents,
- A Valid Passport from a recognized Passport Issuing Authority.
- Valid Marine Medical – no limitations
- Must be willing and able to be deployed.
- Must be willing and able to work aboard a vessel for up to 42consecutive days.
- Must be willing and able to perform Overtime work as required, often on short notice.
- Must be willing to wear and maintain a uniform per Canadian Coast Guard standards, inclusive of CSA approved safety footwear, and maintain job related personal safety equipment.
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience working at sea.
- Experience working in a Marine environment.
- Experience working with DFO/CCG departmental Engineering databases.
