Job Description:

PKM Canada Marine Terminal LP (Vancouver Wharves Terminal) is currently recruiting for an Electrical Project Manager to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Operations Engineering in the Natural Gas Liquids Business Unit (NBU), part of Pembina’s Facilities Division.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with the engineering manager to champion the improvement plan and allocate capital funds to multiple projects
  • Defining how the project will improve or sustain the life of the capital asset in a complex and heavily industrialized facility, doing detailed write-ups and cost estimates throughout the stages of the project to submit for funding requests;
  • Supporting maintenance functions to troubleshoot and conduct root causes of electrical failures from time to time;
  • Analyzing costs and tracking expenditures; verifying invoices and overseeing third party work quality to maintain adherence to project budgets and to overall departmental budget as well as job completion deadlines;
  • Review the current state and identify long term improvement plans to optimize the capacity and lifespan of the plant’s electrical equipment;
  • Reviewing competing designs and material usage with asset quality and improvement versus costs in mind, coordinating project work with other disciplines such as the civil and mechanical teams, or with the terminal’s maintenance group;
  • Coordinating technical staff and consultants participating on projects without impacting normal terminal operations, supervising contractor work to ensure safety and environmental compliance to site standards;
  • Contributing to a team environment that values equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to the improvement, and adherence of safety and environmental policies in all aspects of work and promoting a culture of safety and environmental stewardship by example; and
  • Managing projects from scope development, proposal and conceptual design, detailed design, construction, to commissioning and post-project support;
  • Performing technically complex calculations to verify designs or modifications to the existing electrical infrastructure, redline AutoCAD drawings as required to markup design proposals and to ensure conformity to the Company’s engineering standards;
  • Administering documents required for approvals, tracking scope changes, defining new asset additions by ensuring manuals and updated engineering drawings are accurate for project tracking and archiving, preparing Management of Change and Project Governance records for submission to corporate document library;

Job Requirements:

  • Solid computer skills, with experience using AutoCAD, CMMS and MS Office suite;
  • Previous experience managing projects in an industrial environment with knowledge on conveyance systems, VFDs and related controls, MCC systems and their maintenance;
  • Electrical FSR: Class A – Certification – preferred;
  • Troubleshooting skills when reviewing electrical line drawings and ability to read schematic diagrams;
  • Previous industrial labour relations experience an asset;
  • Detailed understanding of CSA standards and practice around electrical safety and maintenance;
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Hands-on experience with power distribution design, motor control, fiber optics, ethernet and industrial communications instrumentation, PLC and HMI based control solutions;
  • At times may require working into evenings or weekends to ensure minimal disruption to operations or maintenance schedules, with approximately 50% of the time spent in the field; and
  • Medium to high voltage experience;
  • Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technologist Diploma. A Red Seal certificate would be an asset;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment and can pivot quickly due to changing schedules, able to handle multiple projects while supporting the operations team as required,
