Job Description:

We are adding a Transmission System Planning Engineer to our team! We are looking for a dedicated employee with the ability to work both independently and in multi-disciplinary teams on sophisticated issues and who enjoys working closely with partners to comprehend and tackle transmission system planning issues.

This role is responsible for the hydraulic design and analysis of pipeline and compressor facilities to support incremental and ongoing business and operations for Enbridge Gas.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with Distribution Optimization Engineering (DOE), Energy Services, Gas Control, Capacity Planning, District Operations, Storage and transmission Operations, Gas Supply Planning and other clients to provide system design and operational support on a timely basis.
  • Facilitate and develop short and long term facility plans for Enbridge Gas Inc. Transmission systems (Dawn – Parkway, Panhandle, Sarnia Industrial Line). This includes developing customer demands and incorporating forecast demands. Plans must maintain the resiliency of the system, optimize assets and provide the maximum flexibility possible.
  • Develop improved processes and analysis techniques to optimize facilities.
  • Prepare and provide support for regulatory filings before the Ontario Energy Board / NEB Canadian Energy Regulator (facilities applications, rate case, other critical initiatives).
  • Effectively respond to clients including Storage & Transportation Business Development, Distribution In-franchise Sales, Engineering Construction, Underground Storage, Asset Management and others regarding system expansion projects.
  • Keep current on issues which will affect Enbridge Gas’s transmission systems.
  • Development opportunity that provides the ability to be part of a multi-disciplinary project team on large system expansion and maintenance projects.
  • Recommend optimum solutions to meet system needs, while working with an energy transition mindset to adopt strategic corporate strategies that support regulatory filings and consider the long and near term changing energy landscape. Support detailed designs from the conceptual stage through to construction and commissioning.
  • Develop and provide emergency response planning.

Job Requirements:

  • Proven problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience using pipeline simulation software, particularly Synergi, is highly desired.
  • Good knowledge of computer software; specifically Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word).

Qualification & Experience:

  • University Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of engineering experience with professional engineering designation (Registered with the PEO as a P.Eng).
  • Pipeline design, construction or operations experience is an asset.
