Job Description: The Corrosion Prevention Inspector role requires analytical and technical skills along with the drive to solve problems. Job Responsibilities: Performing interference tests Organize and interpret CP data creating efficient and cost-effective remedial work decisions. Performing soil resistivity tests Identifying AC voltage problems Ensuring proper operation of the rectifier system including repairs to DC electrical components and remote monitoring equipment. Provide advanced project management support to contractors’ safety, quality assurance, status reporting and efficiencies. Provide technical support and information to various groups including Maintenance, Construction, Service and Remote monitoring unit operation and repair Clearing above-ground short-circuits Identifying shorted casings Act as liaison between Engineering – Pipeline Integrity, Distribution Planning and Operations with respect to specific legislated surveys (Direct Assessment and / or In Line Inspection) Performing corrosion fault finding and special investigative surveys and mitigation, including: Determining location of below-ground short-circuits (points of contact with other underground structures) Contractors to ensure procedures related to cathodic protection are continually followed. Review and recommend solutions in the detailed design of cathodic protection systems for new steel plant. Job Requirements: Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s license. Thorough knowledge of electrical circuits and design, corrosion prevention theory and cathodic protection mitigation techniques. Ability to interpret drawings from Planning Dept, field notes, as-laid drawings Commitment to continuously improve the Company’s Corrosion Prevention practices Computer literate – Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint Recommended NACE CP 1 CP Tester or CP1 Qualification as well as previous corrosion field work experience. Capable of detecting high-pitched sounds and frequencies through a receiver used during trouble shooting survey. Must be able to work independently, as well as in a team environment A good knowledge of all EGD Operations and Construction Manuals Excellent analytical and organizational skills Related university degree and 2 years’ experience OR four‐plus years of previous field operations experience, OR equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
