Job Description: Under direction of Supervisor, perform engineering duties related to programs focused on process safety enhancement. Duties include conducting process safety risk reviews across multiple petroleum refining and petrochemical platforms, conducting risk assessments, advising Operations management on process safety risks conducting hazards analyses, safety audits and managing incident investigations. The position will also ensure compliance with company and industry safety standards and participate in company and industry safety networks. Job Responsibilities: Support the tracking and completion of risk reduction activities in a timely manner Communicate changes in work processes and hazard mitigation to line management Utilize engineering skills to conduct process safety reviews and develop related control measures Attend and actively participate in departmental and unit safety meetings Conduct formal risk assessments Participate in incident investigations, safety, and regulatory audits as Subject Matter Expert Advise Operations in managing process safety risks and health of control measures Provide technical leadership and promote best practice sharing on networks & work groups Support effective identification, assessment, and prioritization of SSH&E risks Support the compliance of OSHA Process Safety Management and EPA Risk Management Plan Create new standards or modify existing safety standards Participate in Process Hazard Analyses Review key safety systems and recommend corrective actions Provide expert technical support to help drive site improvement in Process Safety Job Requirements: Effective field intervention skills Proficient with standard software packages including: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook Effective oral and written communication skills Effective meeting facilitation, organizational & problem solving, time management, and interpersonal skills Knowledge of industry safety policies and procedures A B.S. in Engineering Ability to effectively work with spreadsheets and create graphs/charts to facilitate data analysis Ability to effectively multi‐task and manage competing priorities Knowledge of OSHA safe work standards Knowledge of Risk Management Industry codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA, ANSI, etc) Field audit experience at a large manufacturing facility Risk Assessment and Decision-making Methodologies and Tools Process Hazards Analysis Methodologies Proficiency with database software packages including MS Access, SharePoint, SAP Knowledge of business control practices Engineering Standards and Practices Working knowledge of: Knowledge of Refinery and Chemical Plant operations and inherent risks associated with the processes.
