Job Description:
Georgia-Pacific is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Environmental Manager position at the Naheola Mill facility to provide Environmental leadership and strategic direction for the facility through the application of the Market Based Management® (MBM®) and Guiding Principles; to create real value for the organization by ensuring risk is identified and mitigated; develop and align facility Environmental strategies consistent with company/division EH&S vision and strategies; drive environmental excellence and performance improvement through real culture change and effective, sustainable management systems; ensure leaders and employees are trained and equipped to manage environmental responsibilities; and, to positively influence the facility leadership and environmental engineering teams. This position reports directly to the Mill Vice President, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Division Environmental Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
- Apply subject matter expertise and excellent communication skills to independently and objectively help operations identify and meet Environmental compliance requirements
- Plan and lead self-assessments to identify opportunities to improve performance
- Work collaboratively with mill operations to ensure the environmental program is effective across the mill
- Provide to leadership to achieve the mill’s environmental vision
- Ensure tools/methods to assess facility compliance status are implemented, tracked, and adjusted as necessary
- Provide effective leadership and talent development through coaching and mentoring the Environmental team
- Evaluate the effectiveness of implementation of the GP Risk Management System, and report identified gaps or best practices accordingly
- Support a robust management of change process consistent with the Risk Management System
- Proactively maintain a broad knowledge of current and emerging federal, state, and local Environmental regulatory requirements affecting mill operations
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering in environmental management, environmental science
- Experience applying Environmental Laws and regulations in a manufacturing environment
- 8 years or more Environmental compliance and management systems experience
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience in managing environmental issues in a large manufacturing facility
- Experience in a leadership role with responsibility of direct reports
- Professional certification/License (e.g. Professional Engineer License)
