Job Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Transportation Security manager, your mandate will consist of enforcing legislation and regulations regarding air or rail transport safety.
  • You will inspect and interact with various industry stakeholders on a daily basis, facilitate voluntary conformity and effect enforcement measures when appropriate.
  • You will conduct operational and administrative investigations, work as a team to solve complex problems, participate in administrative investigations and will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of special projects.
  • Under the TI Recruitment and Development Program at Transport Canada, candidates start the program at the entry level TI-05 and are expected to graduate at the TI-06 level.
  • Upon completion of the requisite training and experience requirements, candidates will be assessed for the next level of the program and will be appointed to the TI-06 level should they meet all the essential qualifications.
  • Generally, recruits spend a minimum of 12 months in the program. The salary range for a TI-06 is $78,864 to $90,012.

  • Graduation with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or acceptable combination of a secondary school diploma and/or training and relevant experience.

  • Required to travel on short notice for extended periods domestically and using all modes of transportation.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply legislation.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience working for an air carrier, airport operator, air cargo operator, secure supply chain participant, ground handling agent, screening authority or government department conducting aviation, rail, marine or transportation of dangerous goods regulatory oversight.
  • Experience in providing advice or recommendations to stakeholders or management.
  • Experience in comprehending and applying legislation or policies.
  • Required to pass a pre-employment Category III medical for Transportation Security Inspectors and pass a periodic Category II medical every 5 years.
  • Experience in the rail and/or bridges and tunnels industry.
  • Experience in developing and/or maintaining
