Job Description:

The position is responsible for adhering to all local, state and federal guidelines governing health care. The successful candidate must be a team-player, organized, self-motivated and manage his/her time efficiently. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse patient population.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs preventive and therapeutic treatments for patient of the Faculty Group Practices and Advanced Graduate Programs as part of the
• Teaching Practices, including: prophylaxis, scaling and root planning, curettage, placing sealants, applying fluoride, and taking diagnostic quality radiographs.
• Manages soft tissue regiments and patient as described by law and the Harvard Dental Center’s standard of care.
• Reviews and updates medical histories and maintains, reviews, and assists in the updating and documenting of clinical information relating to patient care.
• Works with the dental team in coordinating and scheduling patient care—optimizing with provider schedules.
• Adheres to all infection control procedures as determined by OSHA and the Harvard Dental Center’s Teaching Practices standard of care and complies with HIPAA guidelines to ensure the confidentiality of protected health information.
• Partners with student providers as needed, regarding fulfilling comprehensive oral care.
• Partners with the four Faculty Group Practice Hygienists and fills in for hygiene appointments as required.
• Partners with immediate manager, and other managers, namely Faculty Group Practice Manager and Teaching Practices Manager as needed.
• May assist managers with projects related to dental hygiene.
• Assist with other duties as required.

Job Requirements:

• Basic computer knowledge MS Office preferred.
• Must be comfortable utilizing technology as a key communication tool.
• Knowledge of axiUm or other Dental Electronic Health Records (EHRs) is key.
• Knowledge of higher education organization/teaching environment helpful.
• Must be a demonstrated team player with a high degree of flexibility.
• Must be flexible and willing to work additional hours as needed.
• Must carry oneself with positivity and professionalism.
• Must be willing to work with a variety of clinical parties (of all levels) at all times.

Qualification & Experience:

• CPR certification (at Health Care Provider Level).
• CPR certification (at Health Care Provider Level).
• Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with current Massachusetts license and radiology certification.
• Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with current Massachusetts license and radiology certification.
