Job Description: The Part-Time Program Assistant will provide support for the Urban Landscape Humanities Initiative, a Mellon-funded program that runs from August 2021 to August 31, 2022 at Dumbarton Oaks. This is a temporary role for the period of the grant only. The Program Assistant will work under the supervision of the Program Director for Garden and Landscape Studies and in close collaboration with Communications, Events, Education and Academic Program staff at Dumbarton Oaks. To learn more about the Mellon initiative please visit: https://www.doaks.org/research/garden-landscape/mellon-initiative-in-urban-landscape-studies Job Responsibilities: Coordinate Advisory Board meetings: overseeing schedule, agenda distribution, etc. Assist with activities related to K-12 educational programming Support public programs and events Assist with activities related to post-secondary educational programming Communicate with partner organizations to promote fellowships, awards and public programs Maintain program webpage including fellows’ biographies, scholarly activities, outreach, publications, upcoming events and annual reports Handle accommodation and travel arrangements; travel reimbursements, awards, and honoraria; and field research fund process. Coordinate fellowship application and review process Job Requirements: College degree, preferred in art history, history, or humanities discipline, including museum studies Experience with public programming Ability to work independently, attend to detail, and demonstrate initiative in daily tasks. Desire to participate in a collaborative environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and versatility.
