In order to do that we need to speak to suppliers from all over the world to be able to source quality plants at competitive prices and this is where our Buying team comes in. More specifically this is where you come in: our newest Horticultural Buyer.
To put it slightly less simply… you will need to drive business performance by ensuring we are able to provide our customers with exceptional quality products at the best possible prices. You will need to personally visit our suppliers across Europe for a few days every month to build relationships and negotiate deals that ensure the best possible maximum margin and service levels. You will further need to be aware of the competition to bring perspective into your plans and look out for emerging trends at trade and garden shows. You will also be given targets that are designed to challenge and drive your performance and ensure you are able to get the best out of this role.
Sometimes it’s good to be thrown in at the deep end… but not so much in this role. This role is hugely important to the wider business and very fast paced and as such we are only able to consider candidates with prior Horticultural Buying experience, however we are happy to consider candidates coming from a trainee or assistant buying role into this position. We understand that you will need autonomy and our trust in order for you to make this role your own (hence why we encourage you to work a day or two a week from home) and this is part of the reason why we need to know you have the prior experience required to ensure you will be successful.
