Job Responsibilities:

  • To participate in advisory (debt & M&A) and debt arranging transactions (bank and bond structuring) across the infrastructure, energy, power and real estate sectors
  • The role also requires an ability to prioritize and work under time pressures whilst maintaining a high quality work product for both internal and external audiences
  • Provide wider transaction support on advisory (where appropriate) and debt arranging mandates
  • Legal and financial due diligence
  • Perform market research
  • To supervise Analysts / Interns and provide guidance and training
  • Take ownership of internal processes, including evaluation of return models and preparation of committee submissions
  • Understand and ensure compliance with, all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved.’
  • Participate in pitches and presentations to clients
  • Build and run complex financial models, working closely with deal teams and clients to produce financial models consistent with industry best practices
  • To provide general support across client marketing and deal execution activities as part of integrated transaction teams
  • Ability to interact with clients, colleagues and advisers with practical application and responsiveness and forethought to involve senior management at the right time
  • To perform credit and risk analysis, prepare credit memos and present transactions to credit business / committees
    The role requires strong financial modelling and analytical skills, combined with an ability to understand and communicate the relationship between the numerical analysis and wider commercial and strategic transaction issues
  • Adhere to all relevant HSBC and Real Assets procedures and compliance requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of the project or structured finance market (including, ideally, public-private partnerships), typical transaction structures, and key risk allocation principles
  • Good team player
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
  • Strong financial analysis and advanced spreadsheet modelling skills
  • Excellent academic background. Educated to degree level (ideally in a numeric discipline), or holder of relevant professional qualification such as CPA or CFA
  • Excellent communication skills

Qualification & Experience:

  • Prior experience in M&A, Project Finance, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance
  • Experience of building and working with financial models for project finance transactions gained within a bank or accountancy firm, within a relevant industry sector
