Job Description:

Project Soteria is a multi-year project that aims to develop mechanisms to prevent and detect sexual offenders from using positions in the aid sector in order to access and offend against vulnerable communities. Initial beneficiary’s countries in this fight against Sexual Abuse, Exploitation and
Harassment (“SEAH”) in the aid sector are located in Africa and Asia.
Under the supervision of the respective Senior Project Manager, and in close cooperation with the Coordinator Soteria project, the incumbent will assist in the implementation of the project by monitoring/refining/developing strategies and policies related to the fight against Sexual Abuse, Exploitation and Harassment in the aid sector.
The incumbent will perform strategic research and analysis of academic papers, legal, policy documents, and all type of resources, and provide a comprehensive understanding of relevant issues and geopolitical/diplomatic developments. The incumbent will be in charge of designing strategic documents, including and not limited to, speeches, statements, briefing materials, supplemental research, internal policies, threats assessment, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform research & analysis of safeguarding strategies, policies, legislations & decisions from various sources (including academic and specialized papers and reports, organizational reports, internal publications and resources, legal papers and legislation, strategy and policy documents and any other relevant and available resources), in order to provide a comprehensive understanding of contextual/environmental/geopolitical/diplomatic situation related to SEAH in the context of aid sector activity, or related to the project sponsor, partners, law enforcement and beneficiary countries.
  • Monitor geopolitical events, policy decisions, trends, and other impacting developments at project sponsor, partners and law enforcement levels.
  • Gain a comprehensive perspective and understanding of relevant issues and trends.
  • Keep abreast of internal and external policies, projects, initiatives impacting or having potential impacts on the project, and autonomously identify/flag issues demanding urgent attention.
  • Monitor initiatives delivered at the global, regional or national levels by other partners and the project sponsor in relation to fighting SEAH in the aid sector.
  • Develop and maintain relations with partners and sources of information, within the INTERPOL structure, in member countries law enforcement agencies and bodies, and in national and international organizations active around the crime area.

Qualification & Experience:

  • At least three years’ experience as a researcher/policy analyst in the context of law enforcement, crime-related issues, Justice, humanitarian interventions, contemporary international security threats, or closely related areas.
  • Experience working in an international environment.
  • Understanding of current global issues related to the crime area would be an asset.
  • Experience in the field of protection of vulnerable communities would be an asset.
