Job Description:
The Continuous Improvement Manager, using their expert level command of Lean and Six Sigma tools along with knowledge of product and production processes, will work with cross functional teams to identify and implement process improvements to support organizational targets that impact cost and quality metrics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Uses Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, TPM, Six Sigma, TQM) to gain alignment to install needs changes and improvements on the job.
- Implements a lean management system and ensures that all elements such as standardized processes, problem solving and governance are in place to drive sustainable results.
- Act as a coach and trainer for continuous improvement methodologies imbedding lean data thinking into others.
- Works with the event or project leader and prepares for kaizen events using A3 techniques
- Will work broadly with Engineering, Operations, PMO, functional experts etc. to make or implement changes on site and at the source.
- Coordinates with third party lean consultants where applicable.
- Conducts lean assessments and cultural reviews and develops an action plan to address opportunities for improvement.
- Respectfully challenges the status quo and encourages fellow employees to improve every day.
- Utilizes value stream mapping and various lean tools to select the right blend of kaizen events and projects that drive business improvement.
- Leads and facilitates lean activities such as kaizen events and lean process reviews.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills and prior experience influencing others in a culture that is unaccustomed to using lean methodologies
- experience leading Kaizen events focused on improving manufacturing production processes resulting in costs reduction
- Must have Lean and or Six Sigma Black Belt certification and hands-on experience using Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, TPM, Six Sigma, TQM).
- Willing to Travel required
- Prior experience leading projects incorporating 5S and Kanban methodologies.
- Over 5 years progressive experience leading Six Sigma Black Belt activities
- Bilingual Preferred
- Expert level command of Lean and Six Sigma tools along with knowledge of product and production processes is required.
- Must have thorough understanding of cycle time reduction, waste reduction, yield improvement, productivity and throughput improvement to make process improvement recommendations for change.
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Business, Finance or college equivalent diploma
