Job Description:

Reporting to the Sr. Director IT – Operations, Retail & Customer Care, this role is to manage the end-to-end delivery of IT solutions to the business counterparts within Operations, Retail and Customer Care at Purolator. This is a pivotal role because the Sr. IT Manager will support closely the Sr. Director IT and will liaise with other members of the IT leadership team, client sponsors and stakeholders to deliver IT solutions to meet business needs. In collaboration with the Sr. Director IT, the Sr. IT Manager is accountable for the portfolio management of its sub-domain, from prioritization, design, orchestration of work, interdependency and risk management, delivery and successful transition of IT solutions to IT operations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage performance of key partners required to deliver target solution
  • Ensure existing solutions continue to meet the expected business outcomes and evaluate opportunities to proactively improve and evolve solutions
  • Ensure collaboration with SIAM and IT Operations teams for incidents
  • Proactively provide strategic advice and guidance about IT market trends to foster innovation within the sub-domain, in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture
  • Alignment on the prioritization of work within the domain and allocate the appropriate team member as well as coordinate with the broader IT team on meeting the business and organizational needs
  • Manage the business delivery team including capacity management and resource allocation to maximize delivery capabilities. This includes recruiting and onboarding of new PM’s, BA’s and Developers.
  • Support the management of team budgets as necessary including resource management and provide transparency on costs and capabilities.
  • Ensure that solutions and services deliver business value by supporting and contributing towards business case creation with our business counterparts
  • Provide direction which working with the support manager to oversee Tier 2 support for incidents and issues
  • Provide leadership to 7 management level direct reports as well as 15 indirect reports in providing IT, Project Management, Business Requirement gathering, and Operations support for key business areas. This area is expected to grow with new initiatives currently within the pipleline
  • Direct and manage the delivery of the sub-domain solutions and services within the investment portfolio in accordance to Enterprise & Solution Architecture (architecture, security, project management, quality assurance and development) from beginning to end
  • Facilitate people management and resourcing (in collaboration with HR); defining roles and responsibilities, staff reviews/appraisals, recruitment/dismissals and staff training
  • Consult and collaborate with the business product owners to shape and manage the pipeline of opportunities and assess and anticipate current and future business needs as it relates to IT
  • Monitor IT performance and address major risks, issues and interdependencies for the business sub-domain(s) under their responsibility to proactively manage business expectations
  • Provide high level estimates of effort and track performance and budget consumption
  • Track and monitor solutions and services progress; escalating issues to appropriate stakeholders
  • Manage vendor performance under her/his leadership when applicable and work in collaboration with the sourcing and procurement team to support any procurement activities
  • Together with the Sr. Director IT, and EPMO, manage the list of IT priorities and requests up to date in the global portfolio & backlog management

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in managing software vendors, development teams or technical support teams
  • Value Management: can identify the effectiveness and completeness of business and technology strategies and ensure alignment with clients and other applicable cross-organization strategies
  • Project Management: experienced in managing multiple dependencies between projects
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Client Management : experienced in effectively interacting, communicating and collaborating with business partners
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field
  • Solution Design: experienced with several solution process design or re-engineering efforts
  • Leadership: Provide guidance and leadership to the immediate team that roles up to the Sr. Manager IT and foster a transparent, collaborative and empowered work environment
  • Knowledge of user experience and technical design essential
  • Strong knowledge of requirement gathering, use case analysis, research methodologies, design principles, and user acceptance testing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of security solutions to ensure corporate assets are secure and both corporate and customer interests are protected consistent with industry standards, published best practices and corporate data security standards.
  • Project planning and progress monitoring, including budget control and milestone control.
  • Collaborate with development teams to build and manage new features and capabilities while delivering desired business impact.Certifications : PMP (Asset), ITIL foundations (Asset), Agile (Asset)
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, Architecture, and software delivery methodologies (Waterfall/Agile).
  • Develop & maintain framework for Support teams to ensure KPIs are meet.
  • Have the essential leadership skills to encourage teamwork and motivate employees
  • Strong technical leadership skills to guide and manage technical standards are required. Ensure technical standards are attainable and appropriate.

Qualification & Experience:

  • University or College diploma in computer science, software engineer, software design or any computer application development specialty or associate’s degree in computer science or related field, equivalent training and work experience in computer programming, computer science, computer engineering and people with extensive computer system backgrounds.
  • Facilitate and encourage collaboration and work as one team
  • 7+ years’ of experience leading medium to large multi-disciplinary teams, building a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • 7+ years’ of experience managing large, complex investment budgets
  • 7+ years’ of experience of contributing to the success of a range of mid-to-large size initiatives with above-average levels of complexity and business criticality
  • Encourage agile approaches and ability to iterate to create innovation
  • Ability to navigate through uncertainty and lead change within the organization
