Job Description:
The QTRL comprises researchers, students, artists, community leaders, and activists and works to tackle some of the most pressing social justice challenges of our times: health inequities in LGBTQ2S+ and QTBIPOC communities, human rights abuses against gay and lesbian communities around the world, the disproportionate murder rate of Black trans women, and the lack of support for queer and trans cultural production, to name a few.
Job Responsibilities:
- This is an exciting opportunity where the successful candidate will play a leading role in the lab by independently carrying out day-to-day operational management;
- Working closely with the Bonham Centre Director to develop and support the infrastructure and participating members of the QTRL;
- Coordinating events, workshops, and annual activities;
- Developing and maintaining annual reporting; and coordinating recruitment and outreach for visiting positions and residencies.
- Coordinating all project activities;
- Organizing the fellowship and residency programs;
- Identifying and drafting grant opportunities;
- Liaising with community partners to determine goals and priorities;
- Creating and editing project documents.
Job Requirements:
- The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Sexual Diversity Studies or equivalent field, have demonstrated excellence in sexual diversity studies or related discipline with an emphasis on interdisciplinarity in their work, and a portfolio focusing on developing and supporting faculty research and community outreach.
- We are looking for an enthusiastic, interdisciplinary researcher who has a strong background in sexual diversity studies, queer studies, LGBTQ+ studies, and related fields.
- The candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills in English, the ability to work well independently, as well as with a diverse team of researchers at different career stages.
- The extended QTRL research team will consist of a mix of faculty researchers, fellows, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Editorial experience will be an important asset.
- In addition to experience conducting a research project in queer and trans studies, experience in community outreach is a plus.
