Job Description:
The Consultant, Project Manager supports the Strategic Partnerships Division in carrying out projects and initiatives to achieve organizational priorities. Reporting to the Manager, Delivery Management Office the incumbent leads the delivery of program/project objectives. As a highly organized professional with strong time management skills, this position delivers on the tasks of the job while contributing to the Partnership’s overall vision to reduce the burden of cancer on all Canadians.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops contract and agreement documentation related to projects
- Contributes to progress reporting on projects as required for senior management, the board of directors and Health Canada
- Working with an interdisciplinary team across the organization and with external partners, leads project planning (annual work plan, long-term plans and related operating plans) to meet outcomes for programs aligned with the strategic direction of the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control
- Leads the identification, documentation and monitoring of project risks and mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle, in collaboration with program, finance and procurement colleagues
- Collaborates with content experts to establish project foundations, including baseline data, scoping of projects and development project plans to support the execution of the annual and long-term plans
- Monitors and follows up on project deliverables with external partners to ensure achievement of program goals
- Identifies and analyzes project schedule, budget, scope, and impact variances, and communicates actual or projected variances for project status reporting. Collaborates with finance analysts and procurement colleagues when budgets and contractual agreements are involved
- Actively manages large and/or complex projects within one or more program areas with support from program leadership, specialists, and content experts
- Proactively influences direct and indirect partners to realize program efficiencies and outcomes
- Contributes to and applies the Partnership’s project management framework, including project lifecycle processes
- Facilitates partner funding and procurement processes for external services
- Collaborates with colleagues to provide project information and integrate work related to support functions such as finance, procurement, strategy, communications, IT, evaluation, and performance measurement
Job Requirements:

- University Undergraduate Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, or other relevant discipline, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably in project management and/or the non-profit, healthcare sector
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred
- Bilingual in both English and French is an asset
- Systems-thinking – connects the dots between their work and the broader system, has political acuity
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams)
- Agile – is constantly adapting to partners, priorities and outcomes; is committed to continuous learning and improvement; promotes new ways of doing things
- Education or experience with First Nations, Inuit and Métis is an asset
- Proficiency in collaborative project management and dashboard tools preferred
