Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Supervisor – Mechanical to join our Fixed Plant Maintenance Team based at our remote mine site in Voisey’s Bay, Labrador, a fly-in fly-out operation. This is a permanent position on a 2 week on/2 week off rotational schedule.

Job Responsibilities:

• Empower employees to complete 5S initiatives to increase productivity and team morale;
• Work collaterally and cross functionally, with colleagues, engineering, production, and services to achieve work objectives.
• Lead a team of mechanical trades including millwrights, welders, scaffolders, and lube techs;
• Ensure compliance with all legislated standards, company policies and practices;
• Ensure all work orders are closed with completion codes and comments for future analysis;
• Control the consumptions of materials and supplies for the crew; including temporary employees and contractors;
• Foster a climate of safe production, mutual trust, and respect among all team members
• Execute work in support of the Safety Health Environment Management System;
• Ability to hold team members accountable for their performance regarding safety, housekeeping, work standards and professionalism;
• Combine strong training compliance, job observations and coaching to ensure employee competency
• Oversee the execution of preventative maintenance programs for fixed plant equipment, while managing unplanned repairs to meet the production demands of the operations team
• Work within budget, guidelines and standards in place as well as participate in refresh of these standards;

Job Requirements:

• Practical knowledge of Workplace Safety & Health Act.
• Knowledgeable of professional discipline or related process and people issues.
• Ability to effectively supervise and prioritize tasks with minimal direction.
• Solid interpersonal communication skills – both written and verbal, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience is required coupled with 5 years of supervisory experience.
• Capable of carrying out standard procedures.
• Ability to take ownership of HSE risk reduction program.
• Previous experience in SAP would be considered an asset
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering would be considered an asset.
• Proven leadership abilities.
• Diploma and a Red Seal Industrial Mechanic/Millwright certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of cost and budget processes.
