Our Employee Relations Team are looking for a highly engaging, detailed and effective Employee Relations & Policy Manager who is passionate about working collaboratively across HR utilising expert knowledge, external expertise and close partnerships to drive change.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working in collaboration with Line Manger Advisory Service to support the initial scoping stages of business change programmes and successfully handover to the Line Manger Advisory Service team at the relevant and agreed times
  • Identifying solutions in any capability requirements for the business, individuals and/or systems, aligning strategy, people and processes to optimise effectiveness and achieve business goals
  • Partnering with subject matter experts to ensure system requirements and dependencies for policy change are fully understood, value adding and are supported by robust user acceptance testing for successful deployment, whilst challenging unnecessary customisation of product and ensuring best practice
  • Defining the approach and blueprint for business change, provide expert advice to support delivery and act as the final escalation point for resolution of complex ER issues.
  • Ensuring any policy change is easy to understand, access and administer, drives self-service and supports Line Managers to do their job successfully.
  • Creating simple and effective employment policies, products, business wide practices and end to end processes that are externally benchmarked, legally compliant and enhance the employer brand.
  • Delivering agreed objectives set out in the Employee Relations and Employment Policy strategy. Ensure approach is future focused, aligned to the People Plan & driving business performance.
  • Partnering with Communications and relevant business areas to ensure brilliant execution and engagement for successful communication and deployment of change

  • Proven track record of results and effective change management
  • Self-motivated and proactively acts without guidance to add value
  • Constantly thinking of the customer in everything they do
  • Excellent knowledge of M&S employment policies, frameworks and market practice
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to build relationships, take a leadership role and influence the right outcome
  • Strategic and forward thinking, not being afraid to push boundaries. Confidence in communicating to stakeholders – influential in challenging current thinking
