Job Description:

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and guest centric individual to join our amazing Concierge team. Reporting to the Director of Rooms the successful incumbent will be required to effectively manage the day to day operations of the Concierge Department and to ensure an efficient and exceptional guest experience whilst maintaining the  customer service standards expected in accordance with Marriott International Policies and Procedures within a pressurized environment.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Advise and assist guests in booking recommended restaurants, tours, activities, shopping locations, galleries, kids activities, rainy day activities, walking tours, private tours, scheduled tours, luxury transfers and vehicles as well as unique experiences.
  • Manage the team as well as the day to day operations of the Concierge Department
  • Create specific tours to enhance guest experiences to enhance the guest experience
  • Review and implement new policies and procedures as and when required from time to time.
  • Being an efficient link between the guests and other departments of the hotel
  • Maintain good relationships within the Industry to enhance and promote Cape Town as the destination to visit
  • Complete all daily duties as set out in departmental duties and requirements.
  • Perform other duties as and when required
  • Coach, guide and manage the operational team
  • Ensure that the highest standards of service are effected and maintained within the Concierge operations at all times
  • Gather, summarize, and provide information to guests about the property and the surrounding areas.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and restaurants in order to facilitate and exceed guest expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to COVID safety protocols
  • Effectively co-ordinate and organize the operations of the Concierge department as required
  • Confident with Training, Recruitment and Disciplinary processes and practices
  • Keeping up to date with market and competitor trends
  • Effectively collaborate with other departments within the business

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to use Initiative and be proactive and self-driven
  • Quality and customer service driven
  • Attention to detail pertaining to area of responsibility
  • Experience in IR management and disciplinary processes
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance as per company standards
  • Proven leadership skills with a focus on associate engagement and exceptional guest experiences
  • Ability to work without supervision and within a team
  • Proficiency in all MS office applications e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Knowledgeable of local and surrounding areas
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Hospitality Management / Tourism qualification preferable
  • Strong and effective planning, co-ordinating, organizing, assigning and delegations of tasks to ensure an efficient operation
  • Ability to be resilient and work within a pressurized environment
  • Strong and effective communication, interpersonal, problem solving, decision making and conflict management skills
  • Good administration skills
    Flexible working hours as well as weekends and public holidays as per operational requirements
  • Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in a Concierge Management position within a 5-star hotel environment
  • Positive “can do attitude “with a professional and friendly disposition
  • Strong planning and organizing skills
  • Ability to be innovative and think out of the “box”.
