Job Description:

The Simulation Engineering Branch at Armstrong Space Flight Center is seeking a skilled individual to serve as an Electronics Technician. Work involves developing, testing, or performing work on electronic equipment by applying knowledge of electronic theory, circuit design, and the operating characteristics of electronic equipment that may be familiar or unfamiliar.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze circuits, determining design feasibility, evaluating equipment performance under varying environmental conditions, and collect relevant performance data.
  • Complete testing, evaluate data, and determine acceptability of equipment modifications, validity, test procedures and data, and/or legality of operation.
  • Interpret circuit wiring, logic cable diagrams, drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete systems and equipment to understand the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot systems.
  • Design or modify designs to achieve performance and cost objectives; evaluate the adequacy of equipment for repair, calibration, and testing; develop or evaluate new or modified electronic systems.
  • Analyze repair practices and develop procedural instructions to be used by others on methods and steps to repair electronic equipment.
  • Analyze and diagnose faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment.
  • Support professional engineers in performing experiments, research, and development activities requiring an in-depth knowledge of technical engineering methods, applications, practices, and principles to work on concepts, and experimental projects.

Job Requirements:

  • You must meet qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement
  • You must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 level in the Federal service that includes assisting with the fabrication or repair of complex systems or associated facilities; design and analyze circuits and build components, supporting the determination of design feasibility, evaluating equipment performance; evaluate test equipment, systems, and procedures.
  • This position is open to U.S. citizens, nationals or those who owe allegiance to the U.S
  • Position subject to pre-employment background investigation
  • You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
