Job Description:

You will be responsible for leading the co-creation and co-production of public engagement opportunities across the National Trust properties in Belfast (Minnowburn, Divis & The Black Mountain, Upper Colin Glen, Lisnabreeny & Cregagh Glen, & Belmont Tower). To do this you will need to work across our built and natural places to identify opportunities and showcase what makes us unique in a way that welcomes everyone to enjoy nature, beauty & history. You’ll have a view on planning for the future, as well as delivering on the ground. With everything you will do, you’ll seek to work in partnership with others first, pulling resources to deliver exciting and different things.

Job Responsibilities:

With proven leadership qualities you will lead for our visitor engagement work in the Belfast area. As a new post, you won’t have a team of direct reports, but rather you’ll work with our rangers, volunteers, commercial teams, & partners to deliver engagement opportunities. Whether you’re planning, delivering or evaluating the offer, you’ll always be thinking about the visitor offer, to widen our audience and deepen the connections people have with the places we look after. As you are visitor facing, you’ll be working when people are at our sites, including weekends, evenings and bank holidays. You’ll be doing all of this in a collaborative, empathic way – being able to adapt your plans and style to the needs of partners, team members, and audiences.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience of managing operational risk, including how to assess and manage risk effectively.
  • Experience of championing and influencing to deliver audience/partner-led engagement opportunities across multiple teams/ departments
  • Relevant experience in the area of creative, cultural or outdoor/ recreational product development, learning or community engagement, event or activity management
  • Strong people and influencing skills, enabling strong relationships externally and internally to be built and maintained.
  • Experience devising and delivering programmes of engagement opportunities relevant to the needs of visitors, volunteers and / or partners, culture, heritage, natural environment, sports or visitor attraction sector
  • Experience of working with and commissioning external agencies, contractors and organisations.
