Job Description:
This role will support the strategic and tactical fleet/automotive electrification for The Company’s ground fleet. This Engineer will also work closely with the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to finalize/improve Fleet specs and continuously grow the Electrification initiative for all vehicle types while focusing on providing safe vehicles for our Couriers and Operations team. He or she will assess terminal route requirements to ensure the correct Electric Vehicle “Right Vehicle Right Route” fits the route cargo volume and weight to optimize cost per km.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tools to manage project timelines and track progress and results.
- Identify future electric propulsion solutions for all types of Purolator vehicles to meet corporate (Green House Gas) GHG, emissions reduction and alternative-fuel vehicle adoption targets.
- Support our Regional Fleet Managers and Technicians with training, process, tools, and facility changes required to support the electrification of the Purolator Fleet.
- Work closely with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufactures) to understand and evaluate current and future electric vehicle opportunities and build a business case to support the adoption of these vehicles including solution options, cost-benefit analysis, and recommendations.
- Work with facilities to install the infrastructure and equipment needed to support the electrification of the Purolator Fleet. Recommend charging solutions that minimize the impact to our customers and employees.
- Ability to lead change in a large organization as Purolator looks to source, deliver, and activate electric vehicles across Canada.
- Analyze data to perform predictive analytics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for fleet electrification that will measure overall Fleet and Customer performance.
- Design, maintain and support analytical tools that use fleet information from sources such as Telematics, GIS, and SAP-TM.
- Represent Purolator on industry committees, working groups and conferences related to alternative-fuel vehicles and electric propulsion; remain current on industry trends and best practices. Work closely with Fleet Electrification OEM suppliers to enhance current vehicle specifications, and design new features for safety, productivity, and ergonomics with a sight on maintenance intervals and repair times.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in electric automotive / fleet vehicle spec’ing and maintenance practices.
- Ability to critically evaluate evolving electric vehicle technologies as it relates to safety, reliability, quality, and productivity.
- Knowledge of electric automotive components, CMVSS (Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) and Canadian automotive regulations.
- Structured thinking to identify opportunities to improve productivity, maintenance practices, courier or technician safety and operational procedures.
- CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) knowledge and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong competency with advanced spreadsheets and databases to analyze data and track performance against organizational KPIs.
- Strong financial acumen that will support the preparation of business cases for executive leadership.
- Experience with the design and installation of electric vehicle charging systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
