Job Responsibilities:

• Update standard equipment specifications, safety requirements and operational procedures.
• Update functional and technical requirements for MHE projects, including detailed Electrical, Mechanical & Controls specification
• Redline system layouts, electrical & mechanical drawings, VLC & PLC controls logic
• Evaluate, Test & Implement new parcel sort automation technologies
• Provide regular project updated, with realistic and accurate timelines, resource requirements and action plans
• Oversee field installations, safety compliance, systems testing & commissioning
• Lead Engineering projects that require MHE (Material Handling Equipment) across Canada, including travel and on-site installation of conveyable systems
• Conduct safety inspections and support resolution of equipment deficiencies and preventative maintenance activities (PHSR)
• Develop statement of requirements, layout drawings, cost estimates, project schedules, and integration requirements.
• Update, modify & design conveyable system layouts for various size parcel sortation logistics facilities ranging from a single belt to 100’s of conveyors
• Review and check engineering drawings, plans, calculations, estimates and reports for completeness and accuracy
• Provide technical training and support to field operations personnel on equipment operation, maintenance and safety.

Job Requirements:

• Standard CSA-Z431-02 (R2007) “ Basic and Safety Principles for Man-Machine Interface”
• Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
• Strong project management skills; PMP certification would be an asset
• University degree in a Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Controls Engineering or related technical field
• Minimum 3-5 years of technical experience, preferably with material handling (MHE) and conveying equipment
• Canada Labor Code Part II (covers general H&S requirements)
• Knowledge of MHE safety related codes
• Strong competency with AutoCAD 2D, Autodesk NavisWorks 3D, Solid Works, Microsoft Office 365 suite and Power Point
• Canadian electrical code C22.1-06
• Ability to effectively implement change and enhance a team-based culture within a unionized environment
• Bilingual (English and French) is a highly preferred skill for the position
• Strong working knowledge of industrial automation, controls and PLC’s
• ANSI 14.3 (for Ladders and Crossover Stairs)
• Standard Z432-04- “Safeguarding of Machinery”
• rASME B20.1-2006 (Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment)
