Job Description:
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Sustainability, the Sr. Consultant, Sustainability and Reporting will lead the annual preparation of Purolator’s Corporate Sustainability Report and GHG Inventory. Furthermore, they will lead the annual process to have our GHG emissions verified by an accredited third-party verifier and ensure that Purolator’s GHG emissions inventory aligns with inventory and reporting standards, frameworks and requirements. The Sr. Consultant will also be responsible for establishing Purolator’s science-based emissions reduction targets for 2030 and working with the Science-based Targets Initiative to have the targets validated and approved. The Sr. Consultant will continuously evolve and keep current Purolator’s Environmental Policy and lead Purolator’s annual Materiality Assessment collaborating extensively with internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performing complex calculations and data analysis according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol requirements to compute Purolator’s Scope 1,2 & 3 emissions across numerous emissions sources
- Preparing customer reports and meeting with customers to explain the reporting and share additional information regarding Purolator’s Sustainability commitments and performance
- Conducting analysis on climate policy regulations and its impact on Purolator
- Working with the Science-based Targets Initiative to develop Purolator’s 2030 science-based GHG emissions reduction targets and meeting the necessary requirements to successfully have the targets validated and approved
- Responsible of maintaining and further developing Purolator’s Corporate Environmental Policy
- Leading the third-party verification process
- Preparing Purolator’s annual GHG emissions inventory and leading the verification process
- Collecting and validating usage data related to Purolator’s operations (e.g., fuel consumption, utility use, etc.) submitted by numerous internal and external stakeholders
- Working with a consultant and the data analytics team to improve Purolator’s customer emissions calculation tool and provide more accurate reporting to customers
- Conducting a scope 3 materiality assessment to ensure completeness of Purolator’s GHG Inventory and implementing any necessary improvements
Job Requirements:
- Influencer with strong ability to collaborate and build effective relationships with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders
- 5+ years of progressive experience managing and executing GHG emissions reduction strategies and initiatives and preparing GHG emissions inventories and sustainability reporting
- Proven ability to lead teams and maximize their capabilities
- University Degree preferably at a Masters Level – Sustainability/Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering/Sciences, Environment and Business, Environmental Studies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Confidence to work independently and autonomously, self-driven
- Specialized training and/or experience in GHG emissions reduction strategies and measurement, preparation of GHG inventories according to the GHG Protocol, corporate sustainability reporting, science-based targets and environmental governance and materiality.
- Deep knowledge of ESG issues, strategy development, program management, stakeholder engagement, policy development and governance.
- Strong analytical and technical skills, detail-oriented
- In depth knowledge of I SO 14064-1 and ISO 14064-3
- Strategic thinker with demonstrated success in developing and executing corporate environmental sustainability programs and initiatives
- In depth knowledge of reporting frameworks including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
