Job Description:

This role will lead a team of professionals that focuses on proactive communication to internal and external stakeholders providing real-time visibility to all planned and in execution trips, and assets (in-motion, idle or fixed), and adjusts the network to respond to unplanned events and crisis. This role will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of our control tower processes, network recovery plans and the crisis response program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coach employees in defining and realizing their personal development plans and provide them with opportunities to achieve their development plans
  • Support stakeholders across the organization to identify service improvement opportunities
  • Provide immediate feedback to employees to act upon learning opportunities in case of escalations and other incidents
  • Set the infrastructure and standards to effectively communicate the pulse, current and future state of the middle-mile network to operations, leadership and executive
  • Collaborate with enterprise analytics team to develop new tools and resources to measure and analyze service
  • Facilitate crisis output documentation, gap analysis and action plan close out for all incidents
  • Align calls and control tower interactions with ThinkLP (Salesforce) and TM and other related systems
  • Design and implement the operational crisis response framework and establish long term programs and objectives to ensure compliance
  • Lead and influence the operations team to proactively plan for future events impacting the network
  • Engage cross-functional leaders to establish long term initiatives to improve the middle-mile customer experience
  • Directly manage three managers and indirectly 10-12 professionals
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organization such as Field leaders, Process Leads, and Enterprise Analytics to drive a continuous improvement approach for service
  • Provide strategic direction, impacting national network (linehaul, air & rail) on-time performance, optimization, and utilization
  • Responsible for developing processes and KPIs, improving middle-mile service
  • Plan and conduct coaching sessions with each employee, including documentation and progress monitoring
  • Review and maintain policies, operational plans, disaster recovery, plan maintenance, coordination, Crisis Event management, reporting and continuous improvement
  • Build relationships and act as a senior escalation point with our external carrier partners
  • Enable ongoing metric management and analyses, driving CI
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals
  • Support team in creation of highly automated, accurate and timely reports
  • Manage department operational efficiencies, timely customer support, real-time network visibility, TM transaction and trip tendering
  • Measure and improve unplanned recovery incidents and crisis situations
  • Enable and support employees in gathering required business knowledge
  • Influence the broader organization to focus on relevant KPI’s
  • Lead compliance of the Crisis Response Plans (Terminal, Hubs, Network and Functional Units)

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Business, Supply Chain or related disciplines. Specialty training in Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt/ Green Belt), project management or business resilience / continuity management an asset.
  • Will demonstrate leadership qualities that focus on developing and empowering high-performing teams to deliver exceptional results
  • The ability to influence rapid change in a positive work environment. You’ll need to be able to lead and coach stakeholders to adapt to change and ensure compliance, while also thinking critically and creatively to find answers to problems.
  • 7+ years’ experience in a proven business continuity leadership role preferably in supply chain & logistics. Deep understanding of business continuity and crisis management.
  • Strong technical skills. Enhanced automation and information systems skills. Experience in managing complex systems that rely on both industrial hardware and various forms of software.
  • Be a collaborator with an ability to work with cross functional teams and effectively influence results. A natural ability to communicate (verbally and written) to all stakeholders.
