Job Description:

Reporting to the Associate Director, Applications and Infrastructure, the Senior Web Programmer Analyst is responsible for providing high level systems analysis including identifying ways of enhancing existing systems and the development of new systems for the Office of Advancement. This includes application architecture, input/output design, system specifications, process mapping, user requirements, website layout, user interface, database design/programming, test plans and training. The Senior Web Programmer Analyst will be expected to possess a high level of knowledge in the areas of advanced cyber security and e-commerce as it relates to Advancement’s server technology.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Undertake high level analysis and design for the development of new systems. Determine advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives, identify ways of effectively enhancing existing systems, define problem areas, develop and implement viable solutions.
  • Design and write new programs/systems from simple to complex by establishing detailed specifications through discussion with clients/users.
  • Modify and enhance existing programs/systems. Ensure that needs and standards are met to user’s satisfaction. Provide detailed instructions and documentation on system operations. Trains staff on how to use new applications.
  • Develop code, test, debug and deliver programs/web applications using a variety of languages and development platforms from inception through alpha/beta testing and final delivery within designated timelines and deliverable milestones.
  • Establish project schedules, ensure assigned projects follow schedule, and inform management of any slippages.
  • Program, maintain, develop and support high level applications for various databases.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of all new server systems as they relate to the Office of Advancement.
  • Maintain operational systems by providing back-up support, preventative maintenance and upgrades including support outside of normal working hours as required including evenings, and weekends.
  • Create and maintain training materials and documentation for the operation of software, hardware and inventories. Train staff on how to use new applications.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support on existing applications and systems.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience with Electronic Data Capture systems and Oracle Developer Tools.
  • Exposure to various application frameworks including Laravel.
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of relevant technical experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems, preferably in a university environment.
  • Experience with Bootstrap CSS framework will be an asset.
  • Proven expertise in PHP, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, JavaScript, and working knowledge of JavaScript libraries such as jQuery. Ability to use and implement new technologies to the Office of Advancement’s advantage.
  • Experience using Unix/Linux based operating systems.
  • Three-Year community college diploma or a three-Year bachelor’s degree in computer technology, information systems or a related field
