Job Description:
As a Senior Clinician you’ll be responsible for the day to day running of the clinical side of the hospital. You’ll play a key role in the coaching and mentoring of staff members acting as the line manager for a proportion of the Veterinary team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Providing advice to centre staff, RSPCA Inspectors, Animal Rescue Officers and members of the public on a range of topics
- including welfare cases, shelter medicine and medical and surgical case management
- Participating in public relations, media activities and fundraising at the hospital
- Coordinating welfare case animal treatment alongside branches, Inspectors and private vet clinics
- Providing clinical guidance to Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses and Hospital Manager
- Assisting in case animal work with our Inspectors, including attending court as a witness
- Acting as the clinical and surgical lead and enhancing patient care
- Monitoring and auditing controlled drugs
- Line management duties
- Oversight of daily, night and weekend rotas
- Develop training programmes and deliver training to other members of staff including student teaching
Job Requirements:
- Membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons
- Ability to take leadership responsibility as and when required
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Experience in basic orthopaedics is desirable
- Broad range of surgical skills, both routine and emergency
- Logical approach to clinical decision making
- Capable of advising team members in clinical situations (eg. diaphragmatic hernia, splenectomy, urinary obstructions, multiple RTA injuries etc.)
