Staples Jobs – Sr. Financial Analyst I

Job Description:

This position is in the Finance department of Staples Technology Solutions. The finance team supports all financial accounting functions, as well as provide insightful analyses and reports on key metrics for the business. The team also performs key financial reviews that help drive critical decision making to drive better financial results.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide daily & monthly key financial reporting
• Prepare daily accounting reports & roll forwards
• Monthly close responsibilities include posting journal entries and account reconciliations
• Execute quantitative analyses on category and customer level sales and margin to produce actionable insights
• Manage customer rebate process
• Manage vendor rebate process
• Manage vendor special pricing programs process
• Track funding utilized to provide competitive advantages
• Handle intercompany transfers between corporate and the LOBs
• Support balance sheet reviews and schedules requested by Corporate & Auditors
• Provide continued improvement to current processes/reporting
• Miscellaneous Ad hoc financial analysis and reporting
• Work side by side with Pricing Analysts to assist in pricing contract analysis and maintenance
• Work side by side with Pricing Analysts on managing price deviations
• Provide guidance on vendor price increases

Job Requirements:

• Familiarity with Essbase and/or Oracle
• Ability to pick up new systems and software quickly
• Strong ability to manage timelines, think strategically, and demonstrate practical decision making
• Organized proactive, self-motivated work style with proven ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong interpersonal skills across functional areas
• Have a can-do attitude and a strong sense of ownership
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
• 3-6 years of accounting or financial analysis experience and/or a combination of both
• Advanced skills with MS Excel (preferably w/ Macros) and MS Access
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
