Job Description:

In the Associate Trainer position, you will be responsible for delivering remote training and on-site support to new and existing Retail and Petro-Pass Associates. The role is a key resource in maintaining Petro-Canada’s high standards of guest service and driving operational excellence across the network.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with new associates to build their skills and knowledge, and to ensure that they are capable of operating their location(s) in a safe, efficient and effective manner
  • Liaise with the field selling force (FSF), associates, and stakeholders to plan and deliver orientation sessions, training, and support requirements
  • Coordinate and facilitate the delivery of standard learning plans to each of the retail licensee, and dealer or lessee classes of trade, based on site operating procedures (SOPs), standardized training processes and materials utilizing adult learning principles
  • Act as a key resource in maintaining Petro-Canada’s high standards of guest service and driving operational excellence across the retail network
  • Complete evaluation assessments and share results with associates and the FSF
  • Establish trust and build engagement with Associates to deliver effective training and drive retention
  • Assist associates in creating action plans to address gaps and opportunities

Job Requirements:

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Basic accounting knowledge (profit and loss, income statement, balance sheet)
  • Ability to understand and execute strategies, tactics, set goals and objectives; demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a non-authoritative leadership role
  • Two years of working experience with exposure to retail operations or retail systems (back office, pay point, car wash)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, virtually and in person
  • Ability to work within a high-paced, rapidly changing business environment
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications including OneNote and Teams
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership over your tasks as well as collaborate with others
