Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing effective support as specified and required to the relevant senior manager on implementing the public affairs strategy to build relationships with the Mayor’s Office, Greater London Assembly (GLA), the London Assembly, Parliament, MPs, peers and other relevant stakeholders
  • Effective implementation of assigned aspects of Government Relations engagement activity to ensure the successful execution and achievement of TfL business initiatives
  • Providing successful support to manage scrutiny from the London Assembly, including Mayor’s Questions, as appropriate
  • Providing effective high-quality draft responses to correspondence, Mayor’s Questions, briefing notes and other written work including submissions to committees as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Being an effective point of contact for London Assembly members and MPs, and work to identify issues of concern to these stakeholder audiences, escalate as necessary and contribute to efficient closure and resolution
  • Negotiation and problem-solving skills (Essential)
  • Providing high-quality support to senior managers and other colleagues within the Government Relations team to help achieve departmental objectives
  • Demonstrating and enabling the establishment of collaborative relationships across Corporate & Public Affairs, CCT and TfL to ensure effective achievement of TfL and Mayoral goals Skills, Knowledge and Experience Skills
  • Comfortable with, and capable of, representing TfL in external meetings (Desirable) Knowledge
  • Good numeracy skills and the ability to analyse and interpret statistical data (Desirable)
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills, with attention to detail (Essential)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (Essential)
  • An ability to produce clear, concise and engaging plans, letters, reports and briefs (Essential)
  • Good knowledge of office procedures (specifically working in a busy office) (Essential)
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation (Essential)
