Job Description: Are you a looking for a new challenge? We’ve created a new role in the recently created London Underground Planning directorate to help us bring together and develop our operational planning capabilities in support of the Tube’s £1bn a year asset maintenance and renewals programme. We are looking for an experienced senior leader with the skills to build a high performing team with responsibility for developing multi-year workbanks, intelligent planning of maintenance delivery and long term optimisation of railway access, materials and logistics requirements. Job Responsibilities: Accountable at the early stages of the asset lifecycle by informing aggregated scenarios for packaging of work bank and integration of access opportunities to enable efficient project and maintenance delivery. Robust scoping of a multi-year workbank to take account of maintenance regimes, impact of investment plans and new assets. Accountable for coordinating the long term view of LU's requirements for operational facilities and accommodation. Work in conjunction with TfL Commercial Development, Investment Delivery Planning, Customer Operations and asset teams to release vacant space to enable commercial development and improve operational capabilities. Building a strong interface to TfL Engineering & Asset Strategy and TfL Technology & Data teams to promote a strong asset data culture and, where necessary, challenge business areas to improve data quality and integrity. Responsible for deployment of planning capability to enable optimisation of in-year maintenance plans to reflect the required tasks, resources, access, materials, plant and facilities. Ensure operational teams are fully engaged in refinement of plans and using asset management system to provide a clear feedback and improvement loop. Act as the “intelligent client” for the system requirements and capabilities that are needed from the technology that underpins LU’s asset data management, access and materials planning capabilities. Work with Technology & Data and Asset Strategy teams to align the systems roadmap to get the appropriate blend of technology and sign off overall functionality. Lead the development of a scalable intelligence-led approach to inventory management and materials forecasting, working in conjunction with TfL Procurement & Supply Chain and Logistics & Manufacturing teams to increase efficiency of warehousing and logistics delivery functions and realise financial benefits. Lead regular engagement with leadership team in LU’s asset division to drive adoption of planning-led culture and planning metrics. Job Requirements: Strong leadership skills at a senior level to ensure effective team development and address challenges and barriers that impact on people leadership Strong business and financial acumen Proven ability to communicate with people at all levels, including both external and internal stakeholders, to shape and influence how the organisation is perceived in a positive and consistent manner Knowledge of planning and asset management activities in an infrastructure or service environment Experience of leading a business unit in a complex, real-time operations environment Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, guidance and good practice Business degree or relevant professional qualification Commitment to continuous improvement of the customer experience Strong business focus with commitment to driving performance, reliability and financial efficiency Qualification & Experience: Proven experience leading large geographically dispersed workforce in a heavily unionised environment Wide and extensive experience of the management of multi-disciplined teams from a senior management position with excellent leadership skills in a people intensive environment Proven track record in managing industrial relations at a senior level Proven track record in the effective control of large scale budgets Proven track record of leading and implementing change initiatives, particularly with a focus on technology Experience of managing performance-based service and system support contracts in a commercial environment.
