Job Description:
The Qualitative Research Analyst works within Digital Emergency Medicine (DigEM) and will contribute to DigEM’s ongoing and emerging research activities. The incumbent will be responsible for the planning, management, and day-to-day execution of research and evaluation components from assigned DigEM projects and related activities. The incumbent will be responsible for conducting and interpreting quantitative and qualitative analyses, with a primary focus on providing advice, expertise and consultation in the development of qualitative analyses and analysis plans for evaluation and research projects. The position also collaborates with other research staff working within DigEM.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to identify common research interests and potential synergies, and engage multiple internal stakeholders to build strong research teams and strengthened research funding applications
- Ability to effectively use office software at an intermediate level (e.g., Outlook, MS Office, MS Teams)
- Ability to take the lead on new projects, and to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of business/partnership development best practices is an asset
- Experience in an industrial environment, particularly in a STEM field, is a significant asset
- Experience with international funding programs (e.g., EU Horizons Programs), is an asset
- Ability to develop and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with groups and individuals such as senior level academics, researchers, UBC administration, funding agencies, external stakeholders and partners
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and to prioritize and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
- Experience in a Canadian or International University setting, particularly in a research administration role, is a significant asset
- For research work, a post-graduate degree or equivalent professional designation with a minimum of four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Otherwise, an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline is required with a minimum of six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to give effective presentations
- Ability to read difficult or complicated text analytically and critically
Job Requirements:
- Effective negotiation and consultation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated analytical, written and presentation skills applicable to preparing strategic and operational plans, reports, submissions and briefings regarding complex strategic and operational issues.
- Ability to occasionally work on weekends or outside of regular work hours for operational reasons or to meet research deliverables.
- Ability to show initiative and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to develop and maintain strategic alliances and partnerships and liaise effectively with stakeholders and clients.
- Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the health sciences or education sectors. Experience or aptitude for new and emerging technologies (i.e. virtual communities, web conferencing) is an asset.
