Job Description:

Utilizing specialized knowledge and experience to determine fitness to perform and accommodation needs as an integral member of the Health Services Department, the DISABILITY CASE COORDINATOR I works in coordination with Senior Disability Case Coordinators to employ the principles of disability management to actively manage and ensure all disabled employees are provided with appropriate job placements to effect early and safe return to work, reducing time loss and improving productivity. The principal responsibilities include: managing actively employees’ absence from the workplace, due to non-complex illness or injury; managing the return to work process for occupational and non-occupational cases, advising management and union on appropriate job placement; remaining proactive to ensure the Hospital meets legislative requirements in the interest of a safe and healthy work environment; performing communication and administrative responsibilities; performing cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned by the Manager Disability Case Management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages the non-complex return to work process, advising management and union on appropriate job placement
  • Remains proactive to ensure the Hospital meets legislative requirements in the interest of a safe and healthy work environment
  • Manages actively all occupational/workplace absences due to non-complex illness or injury
  • Performs communication and administrative responsibilities such as maintaining concise records and confidentiality, maintaining and regularly reporting all-inclusive case activity and return to work statistics

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge, and experience with managing WSIB / Occupational injuries and illness required
  • Completion of or actively enrolled in attaining credentials in the field of Disability
  • Experience with case managing workplace injuries and accommodations required
  • Management and/or Occupational Health and Safety
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field of Disability Management required
