Job Description:
Continuing Education at Michener offers a suite of online, hybrid, and workshop-based learning for a wide range of health professions. Reporting to the Director, Continuing Education, the Instructional Design Specialist will be responsible for providing instructional design and evaluation support for online and hybrid courses and programs for a suite of new mental health programs. The incumbent will work closely with subject matter experts from the Centre for Mental Health at University Health Network, and with a team of education leaders in Continuing Education at Michener.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and support various stakeholders while developing and supporting education design and delivery
- Support subject matter experts in learning design and delivery
- Liaise closely with the Project Core Team and Project Advisory Councils; ensuring communication and documentation are handled effectively.
- Create student performance assessments
- Develop courses and programs in specified content and practice areas
- Develop course competencies and learning objectives
- Prepare learning plans and outlines
- Ensure all course materials are organized onto the online Blackboard system (with assistance, if required)
- Use a variety of educational design methods including, but not limited to, presentations, small group experiential workshops, role plays, simulation, etc.
Job Requirements:
- Must have advanced organizational skills and ability with excellent attention to detail.
- Must be able to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people, develop relationships and manage expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience providing Faculty Development and continuing education.
- Demonstrated proficiency of eLearning software (Articulate) and Learning Management Systems (Blackboard)
- Demonstrated knowledge of performance and competency-based curricular design.
- Proven innovative uses of educational technology.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Office, especially Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in instructional design and e-learning.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Masters degree preferred (e.g. MEd or equivalent).
- Strong understanding and commitment to inclusive curriculum design and teaching and learning practices
