Job Description:

A Clinical Research Coordinator II position is available at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre / University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. This project is a cross-collaboration between the Familial Cancer Clinic, Clinical Cancer Research Unit (CCRU) and Cancer Genomics Program (CGP). This role will encompass a variety of cancer genetics and genomics research studies, with a particular focus on breast cancer. Reporting to the Principal Investigator(s), the Clinical Research Coordinator II collaborates with the Investigators and health care team to assume responsibility for the overall coordination and management of breast cancer genomics research studies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating liquid biopsy studies for patients in the breast site
  • Recruitment of study participants (e.g. identify and screen potential subjects, coordinate for blood tests and tissue bank, coordinate patient visits, obtain informed consent, execution of study visit) for multiple studies
  • Coordinating with the Project Manager and PIs to execute administrative tasks, such as collection of regulatory documents, ethics submissions and general paperwork
  • Planning, implementing and coordinating all aspects of data collection, source documentation and data entry per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Identification of patients fulfilling hereditary genetic testing criteria and assist in organizing clinical genetic testing for their patients
  • Collaborating with team members on tasks related to participant recruitment and data generation and updating
  • Enrollment of patients into tumour profiling studies
  • Implementing universal germline genetic testing for the breast site

Job Requirements:

  • Three (3) – Five (5) years clinical and/or professional experience with a minimum of 3 years of clinical research experience
  • Knowledge of investigator-driven research processes, such as budgeting and reporting, and basic laboratory procedures an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and interest in hereditary cancer genetics and genomic technologies, required
  • Recognized certification in clinical research (e.g. ACRP, SOCRA) required
  • Confident in working with a variety of stakeholders and people from different disciplines
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a health or science-related field
  • Experience with database maintenance and electronic patient record systems
  • Experience in research contract budget management
  • Knowledge of genetic testing and breast cancer research, preferred
  • Ability to learn quickly, problem solve, set priorities and work independently
  • Knowledge of clinical research principles, research regulations and IATA shipping regulations an asset
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office software, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with high attention to detail
