Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing the interfaces and ensuring effecting communication between the various functional areas within the Project as it relates to both the procurement of goods and services and the execution of all awarded contracts. This includes interfaces between the following parties: Procurement, Vendors and Contractors, Construction Management, Engineering, Expediting, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), Logistics and Materials Management.
- Provides direction and legal/contractual expertise to the Engineering and Construction teams to ensure scopes of work align with the procurement strategy and are suitable for soliciting quality proposals from the market.
- Establishes and implements processes which eliminate or reduce Vale’s exposure to identified or developing execution risk. Possesses an extensive experience base on a wide variety of claim conditions and applies this knowledge to reduce the Company’s overall risk exposure by preventing or avoiding claims. Supports Capital Projects Procurement by assessing technical impact of claim and providing data to support and defend the Company’s position.
- Leads the design and implementation of an effective change management process and contract close-out plan that minimizes the time necessary to achieve operations acceptance of contracts.
- Provides technical expertise to support the negotiations of major/complex contracts
- Ensures compliance of all contract management related matters with the Global Projects Group policies and procedures (SPE), legal and regulatory requirements, insurance, finance, tax, and Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Coordinates and ensures alignment of strategic planning initiatives for various capital project procurement related activities between the project team members and Capital Projects Procurement.
- Accountable for ensuring Vendors and Contractors deliver and execute in accordance with terms of their contract and scope of work. Provide oversight and monitor performance with respect to fabrication schedules, deliverables list, inspection and test plans, logistics plans, etc. such that issues can be identified early and resolved quickly.
- Guides, mentors, and provides functional supervision to the projects integrated contracts management and supply chain team, including Vale staff, third party personnel and Project Management consultant employees.
