Specifically, you’ll manage both our Poultry & Fish business and with your strong commercial background, strategic thinking ability, and skill to find innovative commercial ways to land value for MFP and Fresh Food. Customers are at the heart of what we do, your leadership will ensure we are challenging ourselves, continually improving and changing our offer to deliver the MFP that’s fit for the future.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Optimise across a variety of channels including both online and convenience
  • Build strong relationships cross functionally in planning, supply chain, technical and development and all work together to deliver the category objectives
  • Implement a successful value and promotional strategy
  • Develop and coach a highly effectively cross functional team, leading a team of buyers
  • Identify commercially viable new product opportunities
  • Evolve the sourcing strategy for the area, selecting the suppliers that will best support the selling strategy and leading through supplier business plans to deliver ranges at the best cost and quality, while maximising supplier service and availability
  • Develop and implement a customer-led selling strategy that grows market share and delivers our internal financial metrics

Job Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in a leadership role, setting objectives for the team, supporting and coaching into a high performing team
  • Broad business and industry knowledge; ideally food retail
  • Sound judgement and ability to take a longer-term perspective
  • Problem solving under pressure, well organised and working at pace
  • Resilience in the face of pressure and setbacks, ability to bounce back and continue to motivate yourself and your team
  • Experience of managing and negotiating effectively with suppliers
  • Ability to build strong relationships including engaging and influencing key stakeholders
  • Strong commercial and analytical thinking
  • Experience of developing and delivering effective strategies in complex and ambiguous environments with minimal guidance, evidence of building selling plans
